Official Statement from the Las Vegas Vipers (DEFFL):
The Las Vegas Vipers have made the decision not to match the $2.3 million annual offer made to running back Conner. While we appreciate Conner’s past contributions, our organization operates on a clear principle: salary must reflect performance. In this case, the gap between cost and production was too wide to justify.
At $2.3 million a year, retaining Conner would have jeopardized our ability to maintain depth and competitiveness across the roster. The Vipers are focused on long-term success and building a championship-caliber team within the boundaries of a responsible salary cap strategy.
That said, we’re genuinely excited to watch Conner bring his talents—and his contract—to the Mendota Danes. We wish them the best in navigating the cap space consequences of their bold move.
